Ronald S. McGlaughlin

Born in Lewistown, Pennsylvania, Ron McGlaughlin graduated from Huntingdon Area High School in 1977 and from Susquehanna University in 1981. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from Ohio Northern Law School in 1984.

Ron was admitted to the Bar of Pennsylvania in October 1984 and then worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Francis A. Searer in the Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas from 1984-1986. Afterward, Ron practiced law in the Philadelphia area for a year and a half prior to moving to the State College area in 1987. He is licensed to practice in the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of the United States Courts of Pennsylvania. For 1991-1992 he was recognized as the State College Area Jaycees Outstanding Young Lawyer.

His professional affiliations include membership in the Pennsylvania Bar Association and Centre County Bar Association. In the Centre County Bar Association, he served a two-year term as secretary and served as president for the 2012-2013 term.  He also serves as alternate solicitor for Harris Township.

An experienced trial attorney, Mr. McGlaughlin’s practice areas include:

Business and corporate law – entity formation, contracts, contract negotiations and litigation
Criminal defense – DUI, underage drinking, drug offenses, sex offenses, all felonies, misdemeanors and summaries
Family law – pre-nuptial agreements, divorce, custody, support and property division
Real estate – closings, deeds, title work, sales agreements (Pennsylvania licensed title agent)
Wills and Estates – powers of attorney, wills, trusts and estate settlement

In addition to professional activities, Ron has been an active member of the Centre County community, having coached both Little League and Babe Ruth baseball from 2003-2007. He is a former member and past president of the State College Rotary Club and a Paul Harris fellow.  Ron also served on the Board, and as President, for the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra.  Ron is also an Adjunct Professor at the Penn State University School of Law.

He lives in Harris Township with his wife and golden retriever.   His son, Alec, is a 2014 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and after having served as a Lieutenant in the US Navy, he works in State College, and resides in Bellefonte with his wife and daughter; and his daughter, Caitlin, is a 2018 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, and after serving in the Navy, she now works and lives in Germantown, Tennessee.
